it will be interesting to see what will happen with the "beloved" 501c3 tax exempt status which the churches hold so dearly onto.
the first-century christians met in homes.
they did not have exemption from taxes to the governments.
lambs bottom: "Churches that refuse to perform same sex marriages should lose their tax
exempt status". Hell those churches that have refuse to marry same sex would
change their tune real fast. It's all about money.
would it really affect them?
how would it affect volunteers at any construction project since that work would now be taxable.
any materials they buy would be taxable.
When any group accepts a tax exemption, it agree to play by certain rules
and accept a certain degree of oversight. Federal law actually makes it
more difficult for the IRS to audit churches than other charities. In addition
to this modest "no electioneering" rule, for example, tax exempt groups
cannot collect money for a "charitable" purpose and then use it all for
the personal benefit of the director and family.
Do you seriously believe the IRS and possibly even criminal investigative
bodies have no right to try to scrutinize possible misbehaviors??
For now hands off in regards to churches....
it seems to me that the religion is nearly dead.
or dying.
very little pulse exists for the organization.
When my age group (60-80) have passed you will see a dramatic drop in
the numbers. It's simple, that is the reason why many of the young ones
are still in. For young people that life grinds on monotonously and meeting
attendance becomes rote behavior. You sing (oh God the songs), you listen
to the same BS, you greet a few people with handshakes and smile and
you go home. The young ones see and in no way will they fill the KH in the future.
There is no zeal among the young ones now, so what can the GB do to restore that
zeal when they(young ones) never had it in the first place.

interesting read.
if they already allow "fractions," there's no way they can ban this.. here:www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/health-news/nhs-to-give-volunteers-synthetic-blood-made-in-a-laboratory-within-two-years-10343279.html.
rebel8, curious around what year did this happen? I had a friend in the 60's and
he had SCA, at that time life expediency was 20 years he died at 23. I know they have
made major improvement since then.
